Mosquito Shield was founded in September of 2001 in response to the absence of an effective residential mosquito control service and the inadequacy of control products such as body sprays, candles and mosquito magnets. Our company founder, started as franchise owner with a national lawn care franchise and, having listened to the evolving needs of his customers, understood there was a market for a residential mosquito control service and decided to strike out on his own. Function of the Owner / Operator & Daily Tasks
This varies significantly depending on length of time in the system and the size of their operations. Some Zees start as an owner operator where they arrive for work every morning, prep their vehicle and head out on the road to service customers. Most Zees are running the day to day operations and sending their technicians out on the road. The day-to-day tasks of an owner include responding to existing customer’s needs (the sales center handles new inbound calls), networking within their communities to help drive awareness and leads, coordinating scheduling & routing service calls and managing their team. In some cases our Zees are able to maintain their full time job while they start
their Mosquito Shield business.
Number & Type of Employees
Franchise owner and/or one technician to start. The owner typically runs the office from Monday to Friday 8 to 5 with all inbound sales calls being funneled to our Sales Center. Our system requires very few employees. The number of technicians depends on the size of the customer base but averages 230-250 customers per technician/vehicle in a more mature business. The larger you grow, the more profitable you become as most fixed expenses remain the same.
